Musical Monday is all about making friends and sharing the music that we love. And we think the more the merrier! I would like to thank Diane for hosting Musical Monday
.

Many of you have probably seen this but I think it’s worth another look. There is a prison in Cebu, Philippines that has a warden, at least I think he’s the warden on the CNN video of this they call him the boss, named Byron Garcia. He believes that dancing is good rehabilitation for the inmates. They have many videos up but Michael Jackson’s Thriller made them famous and it’s got me moving this week. Enjoy.

Have a Happy Musical Monday Everyone!

For each person who participates with a list, a poem, or a prose piece about the joy of simple things, my family will donate $2.00 to Heartline Ministries for their medical clinic and other programs in Haiti. The Heartline Ministries blog by John McHoul will tell you more about what they are doing.

Post your piece this weekend and include a link to my blog. Then pop in here to say you’ve posted your “Simple Things.” Post by midnight, Pacific time, Sunday, and don’t forget to link with me and notify me that you’ve posted. As you know I just returned from Seattle earlier this week. The first day up there we decided to go to Friday Harbor and see Quilly and Charley. We had to catch a Ferry from Anacortes to Friday Harbor which is about and 1 1/2 hours from where my family lives. So we boarded the Ferry and had a great sail over to Friday Harbor. Once there, I got to see where Quilly and Charley are staying temporarily, where Charley work’s and then went and had dinner at Herb’s Tavern. Now you can see Quilly’s new attire for the cold weather up there. It was a quick trip but it was so good to see both of them and where their new home is. In addition on Sunday we went and met Sylvia and had lunch with her at Ray’s Boathouse. She’s a hoot. Believe me what you read on her blog is exactly how she is. Funny, witty, smart and just fun to be around. I’m real glad I got to meet her. I have put some photos here but the rest are on the slide show below and on my Flickr Account. NOTE: If the music drives you nuts on the slide show click on the speaker in the upper left hand side of the slide show to turn it off.

Sunday Stealing – The Pretentious Blogging Meme 2

written by Thom - February 6th, 2010 at 11:33 am

A note from Judd…

Hi everyone and welcome to this year’s Super Sunday Stealing! Today our meme originated from TWO sources. When I edited last week’s meme, most questions were multiple questions. So I separated them. It was suppose to be an 18 question meme. When I realized that 7 questions were missing, it was too late. At least a dozen people had already done the meme. So the first questions today are from the meme we stole from Little Bark from the blog
The Tree Unleashed. Last week a player, Going Lik e Sixty added questions of his own and invited us to use them this week. So we took the questions that I didn’t published (Boy, was Bud pissed! Only joking…) and most of Sixty’s questions and we now have part two of a 25 question meme. If you missed last week, here’s your chance to do a two for one!

Welcome back to Sunday Stealing. Sunday Stealing originated on WTIT: The Blog authored by Bud Weiser. Here we will steal all types of memes from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent memes. You may have heard of the expression, “honor amongst thieves”. In that age-old tradition, we also have our rules. First, we always credit the blog that we stole it from and we will “fess up” to the blog owner where we stole the meme. We also provide a link to the victim’s post. (It’s our way of saying “Thanks!”) We do sometimes edit the original meme, usually to make it more relevant to our global players, to challenge our players, sometimes to select that meme’s best questions, or simply to make it less repetitive from either this new meme or recently asked questions from a prior featured meme. Let’s go!

12. How many drafts of potential blog posts do you have right now? 2 drafts and 16 scheduled.

13. In what medium do you draft your posts? Don’t do mediums. I am not a psychic.

14. How often do you completely scratch or delete drafts or blog post ideas? Rarely.

15. If you had to leave your blog in your will to another blogger, who would you choose? When I die it dies.

16. Are there other blogs that you feel are similar to yours in content, style, or voice? Yes.

17. Has anything surprised you since you started blogging? Yup.

18. What are your goals or plans for your blog going forward? None. I do what I gotta do.

19. Do you make any money from your blog? (optional) about how much a month? Nope.

20. What blogging system do you use? WordPress if that’s what you mean by system.

21. How did you come up your blog name? From my brain obviously.

22. How many blogs do you have? What was your peak? Two and I don’t know cuz I don’t care.

23. Are you having as much fun as when you started? More.

24. Where do you find other bloggers like you? There are none really. I’m one of a kind.

25. What’s your one wish when it comes to blogging? That when you comment on someone’s blog they at least have the courtesy to comment on your blog and not just say I’m here because of a link and/or not respond to the post or your blog at all.

Barbara, forgive me for this but I gotta say it. I’m highly disappointed in the meme this week. Questions left NO creativity for answers and WTF it’s Superbowl Weekend. It should have been about FOOTBALL!!!.

GO SAINTS!!!!

Thank you for playing this week on Sunday Stealing! Please leave a comment or link when you have posted. Feel free to stop back and visit other player’s posts. Have a great week. See you next Sunday!

Cheers to all us thieves!

Saturday 9 – I Started a Joke

written by Thom - February 5th, 2010 at 10:01 pm

It’s Saturday 9 time. I would like to send a big Mahalo to

sam+sigof Saturday 9 for hosting this meme. It’s great fun. To read the other participants entries or to participate yourself, click the link just mentioned or the picture above. The rules are simple:

Welcome to Saturday 9. What they’ve committed to their readers is that they will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks they do “random questions,” so-to-speak. They encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because they don’t have any rules, it is your choice. they hate rules. They love memes, however, and here is today’s meme!

Saturday 9 – I Started a Joke

1. Tell us a joke that you think is funny. If you don’t tell jokes tell us why. I’m answering every one of these 9 questions seriously this week.

2. Where do you buy most of your clothes? From a clothing store obviously.

3. Which famous person would you like to meet? Why? Queen Elizabeth. I wanna see if she belches and farts.

4. What is your ultimate ambition? To wake up each and every day until I’m dead.

5. Do you like to live in the area of your country or would you prefer something a little different? Trick question? If I didn’t like it here I would move obviously.

6. Has a newspaper or television reporter ever interviewed you? If so, what were the circumstances and what did you think when you read or saw what you said? Yup and you can read all about it HERE.

7. What was the last CD/mp3 album that you purchased? How did you like it? Cyndi Lauper, Bring Ya To The Brink and it’s great.

8. Write down 5 songs you often listen to or that mean a lot to you. I don’t keep listening to the same songs so I don’t have 5 that I can write down.

9. Do you are your partner usual begin intimacy? I don’t get the question. Please correct and re-ask.

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone’s responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, “Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!” Enjoy your weekend!

The Dating Profiles Meme: Going to Pot

written by Thom - February 4th, 2010 at 6:56 pm

Welcome to The Dating Profiles Meme . This meme is based on a feature from WTIT: The Blog authored by Bud Weiser. This is a bit different than an “answer this question” meme. Either you have used sites such as Match.com or Yahoo Personals or you’ve read them. Weekly, we scour those on-line dating sites to respond either a person’s profile or often their headlines as most of us would really like to do. We use only “lines” that are gender-neutral. So, your mission is to respond to ten we choose each week. Seriously or with humor is your choice! The spelling or grammar errors were in the original profiles. Join us each and every Friday!

The Dating Profiles Meme: Going to Pot

1. I truly believe in a lid for every pot. Is that like the pot calling the kettle black?

2. i have chose to move on with my life and forget about my terrible past and moreover its part of the reason why i am on here hoping that i would be able to meet someone who is willing to accept me for whom i am. Well let’s hope they can understand your sentence first!

3. I very much hope that sometime to me I will carry also shall find such person and I shall be happy with it. Is this some new language? I got lost after sometime.

4. I am not interested in anyone who is not ready to be monogamous. Buckle up for safety baby!

5. 1 Man, 1 Woman, Thats How Its Done. Does it involve birds and bees?

6. Bottom line I’m looking for someone who fears the Lord, who is willing to pray with his partner and share the ministry for which Christ has in store for us. I suppose you are into loving the Devil?

7. At the moment I am not looking for a long term relationship. Oh so it’s a Wham Bam Thank You Ma’am kinda thing huh?

Three Word Thursday #43

written by Thom - February 3rd, 2010 at 9:25 pm

It is that time of the week. One I look forward to a great deal. And by the way Quilly, mahalo for hosting Three Word Thursday. It’s a blast and I can’t tell you how much I enjoy it. Each week Quilly at Quintessentially Quilly gives us three words to compose a story. You can get further instructions here or you can click the picture above.

NOTE TO ANYONE READING THIS. I MAKE NO APOLOGY FOR THE LENGTH. THIS IS EXTREMELY LONG BUT IT HAD TO BE. IT ALSO MIGHT BE DIFFICULT TO COMPREHEND BUT YOU WILL UNDERSTAND IF YOU START READING THIS. AND IF YOU DO I HOPE THAT YOU READ IT IN IT’S ENTIRETY. I HAVE TAKEN ALL THE WORDS FOR EACH WEEK AND COMPOSED A STORY IN THE ORDER WE RECEIVED THEM. WITHIN THE STORY YOU CAN CLICK ON THE WORD FOR THE DEFINITION OR YOU CAN CLICK HERE FOR THE ENTIRE LIST. IF IT’S ANY CONSOLATION I STARTED WRITING THIS DECEMBER 21, 2009 SO I’VE LIVED WITH THIS FOR ALMOST TWO MONTHS. BUT IT WAS SO WORTH IT AND ENJOYABLE FOR ME AS IT IS ABOUT AN EXTRAORDINARY LADY! MAHALO!

My heartfelt thanks, gratitude and love go to Susan at Stony River Farm. I told her what I was up to and she said if she could be of any help let her know. Well she ended up, proofing the whole thing, making the necessary corrections, linking everything and just helped me with this in ways that I cannot even begin to comprehend how I would have done this by myself. It’s not like she has a family to contend with, writing and blogging to do, live her life and just deal with the day to day duties a mother, wife, author, friend and woman have to do. But then she takes this on. Susan I owe ya sister. You will never ever understand how grateful I am for not only you doing this for me, but your friendship. Many many Mahalos!!! xoxoxox :)

This week’s words are: writers choice from the list of words.

WHAT A YEAR

Once upon a time in a not so cynicocratical world, circa February 5, 2009, there was an isangelous lady that enjoyed not being volgivagant. She decided to create a fracas of a gentle kind. It would not be about numismatics as her perspicacious mind would not permit that. Rather than be opprobrious with all, she decided to dig deep into her quondam past.

Without any intentions of casuistry, and to help with the apanthropinization of all, she decided to go worldwide and not entertain just a paucity of people. With her zither playing in the background, and not one hitonious or teterrimous wrong note being heard, Quilly introduced the world to the most melliflous Three Word Thursday, and this was nothing to be making any sternutation at.

Now she knew that there might be some zoilist comments as people composed their anopisthograph, but the bacchante knew that everyone would enjoy this in the long run. In the beginning she was queachy wondering what she would say when someone wrote about a jibber perhaps, but overcame that quickly because she knew that words were in propinquity to her heart. She also knew that the susurrus she would hear from others would eventually turn loud and people’s nescience of words would evaporate. Three Word Thursday would be a huge success.

Sitting down with a jussulent cup one tenebrous day Quilly became ebullient the more she thought of this. The stars had aligned in a sublunary manner to make her feel this way. Oh how wonderful that these stars were showing Quilly much comity and she knew this was specious, even though it did have merit. Just at that moment, the rain started to fall. It came down in buckets creating an antediluvian atmosphere so Quilly took a pencil and started to write the rules on paper. ‘Very prolix‘ she thought. But it was ineluctable. Feeling much like a paladin when she finished the rules, Quilly had given birth to Three Word Thursday.

Knowing that she could not be intransigent, which she knew if she were, it would be cause invidious feelings in others, she decided to only use three words, even though she wanted to use more. Quilly also knew if more words were used it would cause people to quiddle, especially those uxorious types. Quilly wanted this meme to be as glabrous as a baby’s behind and not leave any rubefacient signs of embarrassment to those participating. So she also decided to hold this once a week, hoping that wouldn’t cause any senticous issues and that any thought or idea of divagations by all would be at a minimum, and that no one would become a niddering upon reading the instructions. Now all she needed was an amanuensis to get her rough draft onto her computer but since none was around, she started off doing it on her own, feeling a bit like a tyro in the process.

Not wanting the meme to be risible she had to invigilate the words she used. One could compare it to the eyes of a Mama Bear keeping a watchful eye on those stagnicolous creatures known as fish to capture and feed her young. A keen eye is one key to success. Not being an opsimath, Quilly would not have any problem keeping it a serious meme with obarmate words. Anything that Quilly does is done with much assiduity and this meme would be no different. And she knew better than to ask for words from her neighbor down the street, who was known as a phlyarologist. It had to be serious, she knew. In addition to this she had to make the meme pulchritudinous to the eyes of others so they would have a greater want to participate. She did this very well.

Needing a break from the meme and a summotion of herself from all computer work, Quilly took a break for a while. It wasn’t that she had acrasia, she just felt her mind was working murklins and that a oncethmus was in her head. She also didn’t want to her beloved Amoeba thinking she was sevidical. Besides, when she overworks on a project a morsicant pain overtakes her body. So she took the veteratorian approach and just put it aside.

She then looked over at her Amoeba to rogitate this question: “Hug me Love”. He always obliges. It always helps her get rid of that feeling when she is overworked of solipsistic that every once in a while creeps into her mind and she’s nequient to rid her own self of it. Now mind you, that doesn’t happen often. With tortiloquy she asks him if he would like to be a montivagant with her and go for a walk on the beach. Not at all vultuous he agrees and off they go. Amoeba is one smart man. He knows it’s always better to acquiesce with her in the long run. During the walk they see a tadpole in a small, nature made, litter covered pool on the beach. The duo doesn’t let the litter viliorate their walk on the beach and do their part by cleaning the small little pond up.

Upon their return home and with much ambition Amoeba says to Quilly that he will cook dinner and try not to pessundate the kitchen, by using an operiment on the pots. That way she can get back to her meme. She agrees and takes a bite out of the apple they got from the oporopolist while he begins to prepare dinner. Thinking he’s got a phalerae on his chest from a cooking school, and by force of habit creating a stibogram between the kitchen and the grill outside, Amoeba heads out to ponask their dinner. Meanwhile, Quilly isn’t all that set to get back to Three Word Thursday so she begins to daydream about stiricide and her former ruricolous life. Not wanting to start a quibbleism within her own mind, she gets back to work on Three Word Thursday, with the scent of dinner obrumpent through the windows. She gives a big smile.

With very little temeration and not wanting to obstrigillate her self imposed deadline for the release of her baby, she begins the ossifragant task of putting the finishing touches on it. She thinks that it must be what a bride feels when she is mariturient. ‘Geeze, get busy Quilly‘ she thinks. She doesn’t want to misqueme herself by not having it finished. Rather, she wants to have it be like the bowl of candy sitting right next to her that she bought from the tragematopolist: all nicely packaged and pleasing to the eye.

Just then Amoeba enters the vacivity of their kitchen with a tenellous piece of cooked meat for their dinner. It will be very utible to fill their stomachs, Amoeba announces. Quilly, being the smart woman she is, takes this as a sign of another break which suits her just fine. So like a nubivagant angel she sets the dinner table.

After the divine dinner, Quilly is determined to get back to work and this time finish the meme. Just then she smells a maleolent aroma and looks out the window and sees a familiar man that exudes xenization. ‘Poor thing,’ she thinks. Pure pigritude, the way he lives. He has the tenacity to suffarcinate himself with a spiscious Split Pea Soup that causes him to fart as he walks. ‘It’s disgusting,’ she says to herself and, not wanting to get in a tristifical mood, starts a confabulation within herself that will not pudify her.

‘My meme might not be on a rimestock but I will be an aretaloger and be proud of it. Three Word Thursday wont be kexy and it won’t be stored in a gardeviance, but it will be mine and my computer will store it proudly.’ Being an aquabib, Quilly takes another sip of water and puts the finishing touches on the meme. She smiles and is proud of what she has accomplished. It is anything but ficulnean. Heck, even someone with a bad case of brochity and a speech impediment could pronounce these words and use them in a story. ‘That’s the beauty,’ she continued with her conversation to herself. ‘They will be as easy to say in a conversation with someone as they are to write. And anyone that doesn’t think so can go outside and use the yelve to do gardening as punishment.’

With the patration of Three Word Thursday and her aeipathy for writing, it gave Quilly great lubency to finally decide that it was ready to be released to the public. And that she did. Over the year of its release it has become a great success. This opportunity to adimpleate one’s knowledge base with all these words has been fantastic. It is like it is pamphagous. Once you get started, it just consumes you with the desire to create better stories and makes you look forward to the words for the next week. Three Word Thursday would be incompossible if Quilly wasn’t around. You can harl your feet but you can never thropple Three Word Thursday. Even if one has scaevity, we still try to gnathonize and not roblet Quilly as we all present her weekly a new or continuing Three Word Thursday.

Congratulations Quilly on a great year of Three Word Thursday. It’s awesome to participate in. You make this fun and exciting and I look forward to the next year. Happy One Year Anniversary to Three Word Thursday and the extraordinary work that you do to host this wonderful writing exercise. You are the best. Me Ke Aloha!

Where does one begin to thank a brother, sister-in-law and niece for being such great hosts. Timmy, Jane and Em you all three couldn’t have done more for me, Ma and Connor. You made my our visit the best. Your hospitality was tremendous and you made sure that we had everything that we needed and saw all that our time permitted. The food was absolutely out of this world. You both are such good cooks. I sure didn’t have Seattle pictured like it is. I had no clue there was so much water and that it was so hilly.

Timmy and Jane your house is beyond words. I just absolutely love it. Jane good luck with your new anchor position in Spokane. Timmy good luck in getting a job so you can be with your wonderful wife. And to both of you good luck with your house. Em your are one in a million. They broke the mold when you were born. I love it and love you even more. I’m so proud of you and all you have accomplished. Connor, you as well. I love you more than words can say and I wish you all the luck in the world with your new position at work. Ma, I can’t express my gratitude and thanks to you enough for all you do. All of us are the luckiest people in the world to have you as our Mom and Grammie. I love you to no end.

Here are a few photos of the trip.

Welcome to the February 4th version of Thursday Thunks!
(which we always seem to post on Wednesday)
Where we make you think a little bit before you blog!

We pick a subject, and your job is to interpret it anyway you want. Write about it on your blog… simple as that. Maybe you can interpret it as a picture – we don’t care!
Please only leave a link if you have written a Thursday Thunks post. Please mention us in your post, and link back to the blog here.
Don’t forget to go visit the other participants’ blogs. Read and comment about all their Thursday Thunks! Thats what all this is about afterall, isn’t it? We’ll have so much fun and become lifelong friends….

This week we will answer some crazy questions brought to you by Kimber, the color of doom and the number 999. I would like to thank Berleen and Kimber for hosting. You can click the picture above or click the following link for more information: Thursday Thunks.

1. You walk into a room, someone turns and looks at you and laughs. What do you do? Give them something to really laugh about.

2. You find an egg, take it home and keep it warm. It hatches. What type of dinosaur is it? Do you keep it and name? What the hell happened to it being a chicken? Dinosaurs are extinct aren’t they?

3. Which superhero would you want to be related to and why? Batman so I can have myself a Boy Wonder.

4. A drunken sailor comes up to you on the pier…he begins harassing you in a most repulsive way….what’ll be your defense? A Few Good Men!

5. Entering a CLASS A piano bar, you’re encouraged to sing atop the grand instrument…you grab the microphone and sing…..

6. If you were a character in a Dr. Seuss book/movie, who would you be and why? The Grinch because it highlights my inner beauty.

7. If you have just been called to be a substitute in the Winter Olympics for your country (apparently everyone else was busy), what sport(s) will you compete in? Does carrying the US Flag count?

8. Did the audience from the piano bar in question #5 applaud when you were done with your song? Of course!

Questions 4 & 5 were contributed by Hootin’ Anni at Hootin’ Anni’s. Thanks Anni! If you would like to submit your own TT questions, email us at thursdaythunks@gmail.com

Have a Thunk of a Thursday!

Guess Whose Back?

written by Thom - February 3rd, 2010 at 11:36 am

Just a quick little post to let you know that I am back. I had a great time. Seattle is a fun city and it was good to see my family. I also got to see Quilly, Charley and Sylvia while I was there. Fantastic time! I will be posting more of my trip on upcoming meme’s etc so you will get to hear more about it. I’m sure you all know that it’s hard to get caught up on your blog and blogs you follow while away, so I’m just going to pick it up starting tomorrow.

It’s great to go on vacation but it’s also great to get back home. I hope you all are well and I’ll be back in the groove starting tomorrow.

Mahalo for all your well wishes while I was gone. :)
