What’s Your 80s Karaoke Song?, Apollo 11 and a Thursday Funny

I don’t know if I would be goth, punk new wave or rapper. I think I would be more what it says I’m not. Oh well.

You Are “Love Shack”

If you were transported back to the 80s, you would enjoy anything and everything underground.
You love the alternative aspects of 80s culture, and you’re a bit disappointed that they’ve been forgotten over time.

You’d be goth, punk, new wave, or a rapper. Just not a yuppie, a preppy, or a jock!
You would relish living in a time where identifying with a subculture actually meant something.

40 years ago today, Apollo 11 lifted off to send the first man to step on the Moon. The crew consisted of Mission Commander Neil Alden Armstrong, Command Module Pilot Michael Collins, and Lunar Module Pilot Edwin Eugene ‘Buzz’ Aldrin, Jr. On July 20, Armstrong and Aldrin became the first humans to walk on the Moon, while Collins orbited above. NASA has a site dedicated to this event. WOOT. I love it.

  1. I never thought I’d say it but … I’m a love shack too!

That’s probably because I said it was all one big blur!

But I do remember the day the first man walked on the moon as if it was yesterday. I remember we watched it at my great aunt’s house, and my mother was home alone. We must have been all excited about that event, yeah, mos likely. A little bit later in the evening my father blew it, in more ways than one. He farted and he whole house smelled like … DUH, well you know!
My mother was so mad at him, he had to sleep on the couch. Poor man, my parents never fought, but that night it was terrible. My sister and I were sitting at the top of the stairs, crying, and he called upon us to persuade our mother to change her mind.
40 years ago today huh? Oh boy, to me it seems like yesterday.

  2. I’m a Love Shack too; those were my college years and I used to be heavily into Joy Division, Ministry, Smiths etc. so I guess there’s something to it.

I looooove Earl and Bubba!! LOL

  3. I got the same results, but they don’t really seem to fit.

Was there some trouble with your blog last night? When I tried to click on it from Google Reader or even from Quilly’s, I got a window saying there was so much site. Seems to be OK now, though.

  4. I’m a child of the 80’s, so I wound up with:

“Your 80s Song is ‘Walk Like an Egyptian’
If you were transported back to the 80s, your life would be all about having fun.
You love the wackiness that the 80s represented. Everything back then seemed a lot more colorful!

You’d peg your jeans, get a “totally tubular” hair cut, and even wear one sequined glove.
You would skateboard, play Pac-Man, and hang out at the mall. And of course, you would walk like an egyptian.”

Though I’m not quite sure about the sequined glove. I really prefer satin. ;)

  5. I remember the moon landing very well. My entire family was mesmerized and proud because my father’s company manufactured parts for the launch vehicle.

Here’s my 80s song result (with its hilarious interpretation because it actually is kinda me)

    You Are “Time After Time”
If you were transported back to the 80s, your life would be all about reflecting.
You’re a serious, earnest person – and you couldn’t help but think a lot about how things were back then.

You’d spend a lot of your time writing, researching, and learning.
You would either become a social anthropologist – or a crazy guru with a knack for predicting the future.

  6. I can’t believe the anniversary of the moon landings got by me. Thanks for the reminder.
