I tried to take a macro of an orchid plant in our living room and saw this reflection in the glass ball. I’ve also included the macro which, yes I still need to work on. I hope you enjoy. And No Quilly, I wasn’t suppose to be in it but forgot to get outta the way LOL It was purely unintentional
LOL
Hey, it’s only my opinion.
A Hui Hou

That’s really beautiful ! your photos are getting better and better !
Thank you my friend and thanks for the vote of confidence. I have a long long long way to go
We all cannot be quilly and I think your photos are just great. I love orchids. They are very beautiful, as are your photos of them.
Again, thanks for the vote of confidence my dear sweet Lavon. Very much appreciated
Thom, what a beautiful orchid! Around here something that beautiful would be made of silk! I agree with Gattina – you’re moving in the right direction on photos!
Thank you I really appreciate it. It’s a real one that’s for sure
Bravo! a really promising photo!
I love orchids, I used to plant them.
Have you a most wonderful weekend!
hugs
shakira
Glad you enjoyed this. They are a wonderful flower. Have a great day
Beautiful shots. Macros are so hard.
Flash 55 – Earthquake
One Single Impression – Running
I never knew how hard they are and this one still could have been a lot better. Thank you
Oh how lovely! I love the purple too.
Why is it I thought of you with this?
Glad you enjoyed!
Beautiful orchid! I wonder how many reflections are discovered by surprise after the photo is taken.
ROFLMAO!!! You let the cat outta the bag. I wasn’t even thinking of that until I saw the photo. Brilliant my friend.
Glad you enjoyed!
Beautiful! Your photos are getting better every week.
Thank you sister…that’s sorta debatable but I do appreciate it
I’m looking at the composition and palette of the top one especially Thom, and yes, there’s a lot of talent buried under your manly I-don’t-need-to-read-no-stinking-manual exterior of yours.
Also, you’re not saying “sorry it’s blurry” half as often as you used to.
LOL…composition and palette? What the hell is that. That’s because you should see the ones I delete that are blurry. LOL
composition = where stuff is at in the pixcher
palette = pretty colours
LOL

Pixcher? what the hell is that now LOL! Are you trying to teach me how to speak Irish?
Very nice Thom. That orchid is so pretty…
Glad you enjoyed this my friend. I like the photos I must say
Gorgeous picture! I love orchids they are so pretty.
Thanks!!! I’m glad you liked this. They are pretty
the beauty of the orchid somewhat overshadows the reflection – but it’s a cool one nonetheless
Hmmm funny I thought the orchid would overshadow the reflection myself. I’m glad you like this
What beautiful orchids!
Just remember my friend that with just a macro setting you will only be able to get so close. Just a little sharper focus and you would have had the center of the orchid beautifully. That’s not a critique, just an observation. It’s still a good shot.
Is that glass ball something to water the orchids with? Great place to find a reflection.
I always wait for your comments to learn how to do these better. Critique away my friend. It’s the only way I learn. The glass ball is used with fishing nets as the floaters. They are very expensive now days and hence the ones we do have left are in our house
Your macros are getting better – -and I like it when you are in your photos in a subtle way. I already suggested you make that your signature!
Thank you Q. I still need a ton of work to do on them. Well I could do that but seeing me in them well I dunno LOL
That orchid is gorgeous!
Thanks!!! I’m very glad you liked it
Beautiful photo…I like how the reflection doesn’t take center stage….
Thank you. I liked that fact too. Something different I thought
The orchids are beautiful and I love the way you photographed them. It makes them look so big. That’s a great idea for a reflection too. Nicely done my friend!
P.s I didn’t know what you were talking about when you asked about the white contraption the other day. I think I finally figured it out. It’s some sort of homemade storage bin and the white stuff is snow.
Thank you my friend and thanks for for explaining the other picture. Snow…pffft.. silly me LOL
How beautiful. That orchid is gorgeous
Mahalo my friend. So glad you liked
Aloha Thom,
I really enjoy your blog and this wonderful orchid!
I’m glad you do. Thank you my friend.
Glad you liked the orchid
Great reflections, Thom! The orchid is gorgeous!
Thank you very much. I really appreciate it
My experience with macro is that you do not have to be close to the subject. You may have to distance yourself a few inches, so it does not get blurry.
Just an observation, my friend.
It took me a long time to learn composition and style. (I learn a lot from Zee).
Thanks for all your nice comments about my photography.
Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it. I’m learning on the macro. Hopefully it will get a little better in the long run
Your photos are just spectacular as always
Nice Thom! Lovely reflection, lovely orchids!
Glad you enjoyed
Macro’s can be sO hard sometimes… so much depends on lighting for them to come out right!
This looks good – but I know what you mean! I like that ball!
Glad you like that. Sometimes they just seem impossible to me LOL
Is that your reflection stooped down in the glass ball?
Indeed it is
I really like that crystal ball!
Mahalo. Glad you enjoy it.
moi qui n est pas la main verte du tout,je suis en admiration !
bon dimanche ;O)
