An Eastside Adventure

Ella got her grass skirt, but alas, the coconut bra…they don’t make coconuts her size.Yes we are still looking.

Yesterday we decided to go East. We head to Hanauma Bay first. Jientje is eating sushi before she begins her on going photo journal. And Ella is right there helping her eat. I swear that woman’s finger is going to fall off from all the pictures she takes. I talked to her about it and still right here at this moment I could never take all the photos she takes. Everything and anything is fair game to her and her camera is never off. She goes through batteries like there is no tomorrow. I’m signing up for stock options in the battery industry just because of her.

Of course Quilly is off taking her own pictures of the bay as well.

All of a sudden no Ella. Well the little tart has gone of and started flirting with the grounds keepers at the park and trying to take over their job. She even tells the boss that she’s here now and that now “there’s a new boss in town.” Well after she learns of the salary she quits and heads on through the park and meets the Keller’s from Missouri, chats with them a bit and then goes up to finally see Hanauma Bay. However, when we get ready to leave she’s got to take a jaunt on a moped, pink of course, looking for the grounds keepers again. A tart I tell ya. A Tart.

So we finally get her back and proceed onto the Halona Blow Hole. It’s a beautiful site and you can see the Island of Molokai and Maui on a clear day from there. It was sort of hazy and a bit cloudy but you could make them out.

When we get ready to leave there, Ella has met Mary who has Radar O’Teddy and his Girlfriend Maureen O’Beara (they weren’t on the trip with her) but they travel around like Ella. So of course she had to get her picture with her.

The we leave for Makapu’u to see the sights there. It is in my opinion, the best site on the entire island.

By this time, the heat and salt air are starting to get to Jientje. She’s just not use to either one of them and needs something cold and refreshing. So we go to Keneke’s in Waimanalo and get her a smoothie, Quilly a shave ice and I have ice cream and your’s truly didn’t take any pictures there. pffft. So we continue around and go over the Pali and Jientje says she would like a nap before heading to Waikiki. So I was going to take them home, go pick up Lisa to take to the airport and then head back to pick them up. Well we get down the Pali and on the freeway back out to Quilly’s house and Jientje says she doesn’t need her nap and is fine. Thank goodness for smoothies LOL. So I decide to go up to Manoa Valley and Quilly says have you ever been to the Chinese cemetery. I hadn’t so up we go. It is beautiful.

I even thought of Fandango here.

So we leave there go pick up Lisa take her to the airport and go to Waikiki for dinner. We went to Duke’s Canoe Club, my favorite place in Waikiki to eat dinner. The only bad thing about this was the music was real loud and it was hard to talk and enjoy conversation but it was still fun. Of course Jientje is off taking pictures all over the place. She doesn’t ever order a full meal also. Just just orders pupu’s and that’s enough for her. She ordered coconut shrimp, Quilly had hulihuli chicken and ribs and I had prime rib. Ella was tired and wanted to stay in the car and sleep. Pffft…little tart was just thinking of her new found grounds keepers I just no it.

So after dinner, and thank you Jientje, we walk to the hula show. We don’t stay there very long as Jientje is very tired and wants to go home. So I drop them off. Just the little bit of hula that we did see was a perfect ending to a great day.

As usual, you can see all the photos of the day on my Flickr account.

Hey, it’s only my opinion.

  1. Such great pics :) !
You guys seem to have a whole bunch of fun – I’m glad :D !

  2. Oh oh oh!!! IF I ever get to Hawaii can we do the Hula show FIRST??? I do NOT want to miss the Hula show! Do you suppose Energizer has enough stock for BOTH of us? I thought the SAME thing! But you guys are doing good! And…

… Ella is NOT a TART!!! If she becomes a TART it’s all YOUR FAULT! She might have to go back to Dr. John for a week or two when she gets done with you!…

  3. Your post makes me feel like I was there. And I agree with Melli, you’re clearly a bad influence on Ella. Or is it just that there’s something about the islands? ;) And what a beautiful day you had with the ocean so blue. Gorgeous! Mwah!

    • Don’t blame me…blame that little tart I tell ya. She’s not all sugar and spice :) And did you see the blow hole spewing in this post? I’m glad you felt like you were there :) MWAH

      • I won’t be so quick to blame Ella since she didn’t start smoking until she saw you. ;) And yes, I did enlarge the picture and witnessed the spray in all its glory. (Yeah, that doesn’t sound too good either. Obviously, I’ve been watching too much Craig Ferguson. ;) )

  4. phew, i’m tired just reading about your wonderful adventures ;)

  5. I like that pink Moped!!!

Ella sure knows how to make friends easily.

Jientje will be busy for weeks sorting through photos when she gets home.

I’m enjoying the travelogue! But I can tell if I ever go to Hawaii I’ll need someone to tell me what the things on the menu are.

    • LOL…join our batter brigade I tell ya. She goes through them quicker than anything. She is non-stop about the pictures. And sure will tell ya what your getting into. Ella liked that pink moped also…little tart that she is :)

  6. Thanks Thom for letting us keep up-to-date on Jientje’s adventures.
I feel like I’m back there again and I really would like to be.

  7. Thom — Jientje and I might have liked the hula better if we could have seen anything but the shoulders of the crowd if front of us. AND, once again Jientje was out of batteries and as soon as he camera batteries stop working, so does her interest in anything.

  8. you and quilly are quite good tour guides!

  9. Wow that was some Moped as pink as they come… Ella would not be such a trollop if you hadn’t given her that cigarette not she is just loosy goosy.
    xoxoxoxo

  10. Wow. How do you have the time to do all of that site seeing and do such a long post? I feel like I am there.

  11. Of *course* Ella’s turned into a tart—you’ve got her walking around with a skirt but NO BRA?? Jeez guys, crack open a walnut for her and tie the halves with a shoestring at least.

No wonder Jientje wanted to go home after hula started…I would too if it was *girls*. Give me those big strong Polynesian men any day.

    Quick!

    lol

Your photos are gorgeous; thanks for the tour!

    • She has a bra on. You need to look better LOL…oh yeah, your too busy huntin’ down Polynesian men LOL I don’t think we have walnut trees over here to get a walnut shell…pffft…and at the store they are already cracked open…geeze

  12. Ella sure gets into a lot more adventures with the 3 of you! I think it must be the tropical air. ;)

  13. It is so much fun to see Jientje, Quilly, and Ella together in Hawaii! You and Quilly are great to entertain a bloggy friend so well. Great photos Thom!!
