Three Word Thursday #56

3wt

It is that time of the week. One I look forward to a great deal. And by the way Quilly, mahalo for hosting Three Word Thursday. It’s a blast and I can’t tell you how much I enjoy it. Each week Quilly at Quintessentially Quilly gives us three words to compose a story. You can get further instructions here or you can click the picture above.

This week’s words are:

curglaff, n. the shock one feels when plunging into cold water
auriferous, adj. gold-bearing; a stone bearing gold
heimish, adj. Warm and comfortable; homey; folksy

WEDDING RING

The young lad shivered as he jumped into the cool mountain lake. The curglaff he felt was almost unbearable and it almost took his breath away. But he survived the initial shock and began to frolic happily about. Out of the corner of his eye he noticed a glistening object floating on the surface. It instantly gave him a heimish feeling as if an angel had waved a magic wand and all his worries were gone.

As he swam closer to the object, that he hoped would be auriferous, a fear took over. He began to lose his swimming ability. His thought processes began to shut down. The water began to close in all around him. The object began to disappear from his site as he sank deeper and deeper into the abyss on the mountain lake. What was wrong he wondered?

Reaching up Buddy saw a silver handle. The water began to flow and his mom’s diamond wedding ring began to sparkle even more as it was captured in the tide pool and began spinning around the toilet. Buddy quickly ran back to his bed and continued his nap.

Have a great Three Word Thursday

Hey, it’s only my opinion.

  1. Oh dear. Toilets aren’t for swimming in. As for the wedding ring, mom must not have cared much for it or she would have had it on her hand, right?

Great story, Thom. It made me laugh.

    Don’t forget to sign in!

    • Well maybe she took it off to do cleaning in the oven or something or change the oil in the car LOL. Who knows!! Well the first part was him dreaming I suppose while he watched the ring in the bowl. :) Glad you enjoyed :)

  2. uh-oh!!
Good thing mine can’t slide off my finger.

  3. Thom, this is eerie. I wrote mine, published and then came to see yours. A LOT of similarity! Although mine didn’t include a toilet…ha ha

    Well done!

  4. this is the kind of humor that we missed here, thom! “toilet” humor at its best! LOL!

  7. Now I finished to scroll through your blog and saw Ella too in a scandalous state, lol ! I lost a bit her trace wasn’t she in Europe too ? I see you are in good shape again to write !

    • She was in Ireland of Christmas but I don’t think she’s been anywhere else since. It’s glad to be back :) Glad you found how that little tart behaved :)

  8. Oh, I love it, Thom! You do have a great imagination! Yep, definitely “toilet” humor at it’s best! Have a great day!

  9. aww, this is weird. a bit of mental gymnastics in a good way (i like) :)

    • Indeed it is and if you can believe that I had this planned from the very beginning when I started thinking of the story :) Glad you enjoyed :)

  10. Glad you’re back. Hopefully by this weekend I’ll be back to play again as well.

Sorry…funny story and I can imagine the scoundrel doing just that.

  11. Love toilet stories and Little Buddy has a great imagination. Good stroy!

  12. I thought that was great, Thom. Yeah, a wedding ring will really pull you to the seabed. At least, I’ve always assumed so.
