Harriet at Harriet and Friends did a great post about the privacy issues on Facebook. Yesterday morning I was listening to one of my favorite Podcasts Buzz Out Loud and came upon some more information about this privacy issue. I think the privacy issues SUCK big time on Facebook and I have taken mine and really limited it to what can and cannot be shared. It’s only me and friends basically. And that’s the way it’s going to stay.
You think you have your settings set correctly? Guess again. Go to YOUROPENBOOK.ORG. You can type in anything and you will see what others can see about you. It’s scary. One way to easily check your settings is to go to RECLAIMPRIVACY.ORG. You can drag a button into your bookmarks bar and then log into your Facebook account. It will scan your privacy settings and make suggestions.
i just wanted to share this little bit of information. I hope it helps.
I was shopping at the local supermarket where I selected:
A half-gallon of 2% milk
A carton of eggs
A quart of orange juice
A head of lettuce
A 2 lb. can of coffee
A 1 lb. package of bacon
As I was unloading my items on the conveyor belt to check out, a drunk standing behind me watched as I placed the items in front of the cashier.
While the cashier was ringing up the purchases, the drunk calmly stated, ‘You must be single.’
I was a bit startled by this proclamation, but I was intrigued by the derelict’s intuition, since I indeed had never found Mr. Right. I looked at the six items on the belt and saw nothing particularly unusual about my selections that could have tipped off the drunk to my marital status..
Curiosity getting the better of me, I said, ‘Yes you are correct. But how on earth did you know that?’
The drunk replied, ‘Cause you’re ugly.

I’m on Facebook, but I don’t use it other than to send a note now and then to one of my kids and occasionally a friend that I know well. I don’t like the changes they made recently so I try to avoid it almost completely.

I couldn’t find an image that I liked. I added the Facebook Privacy Bookmark Things, and when I did the scan I had mostly everything secure, but one, It couldn’t fix it until I went in and fixed it myself. Thank God it provided a Link where I could go. I heard the Drunk Joke before.

I don’t do facebook, people keep trying to get me on but so far i have resisted. Curt has an account which he only uses tokeep tabs on my daughter’s account. ( seriously – you can;t survive high school here with out one – coaches even post changes in practice schedules on facebook. grrrrr.)
I did recently start tweeting.
Well I have both your Quirkiness LOL I don’t use either one very much but oh well. it’s the way of the future for coaches etc to put things on there I think.
