GAME #5

vs.

Well we scored another win. WOOT!!! Way to Go Warriors. They beat the Bulldogs 41 – 21. Of course the 2nd half they played worse than the first half. It always seems to happen like that. Congratulations LA Tech for giving us a good game and your making the game more interesting in the 2nd half. I have to say I’m not liking that the plays can be reviewed. It makes the games a lot longer now and it just seems to take a little fun out of college ball. Let the call stand that was called on the field I say.

In other news, G-Man’s, Mr. Knowitall, beloved #19 Michigan Wolverines beat the Indiana Hoosiers, 42-35. Way to go Big Blue. Next up are the Michigan State Spartans.

The Warriors now head to the road to face rival Fresno State next Saturday, Oct. 9. Kickoff is 7:00 p.m. PT (4:00 HT) at Bulldog Stadium.

GAME #4

vs.

It was a rout from the very beginning and the Warriors beat the Buccaneers 66-7. When the games get like this they are real boring to me. I like the win but I rather have a game develop. We all had fun though. Congratulations UH on your win. And Charleston Southern nice try and you put up a decent fight. Way to go Warriors. Now the real season begins with conference games starting.

In other news, G-Man’s, Mr. Knowitall, beloved Michigan Wolverines beat the Bowling Green State University Falcons, 65-21. Way to go Big Blue.

The Warriors now enter its Western Athletic Conference schedule with a meeting against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs on Saturday, Oct. 2. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. at Aloha Stadium.

Well what started off as a good game turned into a disaster. The Colorado Buffaloes beat the Hawai‘i Warriors, 31-13. The Warrirors were leading at the half 10-0 and then came the dreaded 3rd Quarter. They seem to always play crappy in this quarter and once again they did. But you can’t win them all I suppose. Congratulations Colorado on your win. Very well played. UH you played well but need to work on your defense.

The Warriors now return home for its first game at Aloha Stadium in more than three weeks. Hawai‘i will take on Charleston Southern on Saturday, Sept. 25, with kickoff at 5:30 p.m.

With some better news, G-Man’s, Mr. Knowitall, beloved Michigan Wolverines beat the Massachusetts Minutemen, 42-37. Way to go Big Blue.

Kulula is a low-cost South-African airline that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Check out their new livery!

WHAT A PITY KULULA DOESN’T FLY INTERNATIONALLY – WE SHOULD SUPPORT THEM IF ONLY FOR THEIR HUMOUR.

Kulula is an Airline with head office situated in Johannesburg . Kulula airline attendants make an effort to make the in-flight “safety lecture” and announcements a bit more entertaining. Here are some real examples that have been heard or reported:
On a Kulula flight, (there is no assigned seating, you just sit where you want) passengers were apparently having a hard time choosing, when a flight attendant announced, “People, people we’re not picking out furniture here, find a seat and get in it!”

On another flight with a very “senior” flight attendant crew, the pilot said, “Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve reached cruising altitude and will be turning down the cabin lights. This is for your comfort and to enhance the appearance of your flight attendants.”

On landing, the stewardess said, “Please be sure to take all of your belongings.. If you’re going to leave anything, please make sure it’s something we’d like to have.”

“There may be 50 ways to leave your lover, but there are only 4 ways out of this airplane.”

“Thank you for flying Kulula. We hope you enjoyed giving us the business as much as we enjoyed taking you for a ride.”

As the plane landed and was coming to a stop at Durban Airport , a lone voice came over the loudspeaker: “Whoa, big fella. WHOA!”

After a particularly rough landing during thunderstorms in the Karoo , a flight attendant on a flight announced, “Please take care when opening the overhead compartments because, after a landing like that, sure as hell everything has shifted.”

From a Kulula employee: ” Welcome aboard Kulula 271 to Port Elizabeth . To operate your seat belt, insert the metal tab into the buckle, and pull tight. It works just like every other seat belt; and, if you don’t know how to operate one, you probably shouldn’t be out in public unsupervised.”

“In the event of a sudden loss of cabin pressure, masks will descend from the ceiling. Stop screaming, grab the mask, and pull it over your face. If you have a small child travelling with you, secure your mask before assisting with theirs. If you are travelling with more than one small child, pick your favourite.”

And from the pilot during his welcome message: “Kulula Airlines is pleased to announce that we have some of the best flight attendants in the industry. Unfortunately, none of them are on this flight!”

Heard on Kulula 255 just after a very hard landing in Cape Town : The flight attendant came on the intercom and said, “That was quite a bump and I know what y’all are thinking. I’m here to tell you it wasn’t the airline’s fault, it wasn’t the pilot’s fault, it wasn’t the flight attendant’s fault, it was the asphalt.”

Overheard on a Kulula flight into Cape Town , on a particularly windy and bumpy day: During the final approach, the Captain really had to fight it. After an extremely hard landing, the Flight Attendant said, “Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to The Mother City. Please remain in your seats with your seat belts fastened while the Captain taxis what’s left of our airplane to the gate!”

Another flight attendant’s comment on a less than perfect landing:

“We ask you to please remain seated as Captain Kangaroo bounces us to the terminal.”

An airline pilot wrote that on this particular flight he had hammered his ship into the runway really hard. The airline had a policy which required the first officer to stand at the door while the passengers exited, smile, and give them a “Thanks for flying our airline. He said that, in light of his bad landing, he had a hard time looking the passengers in the eye, thinking that someone would have a smart comment.

Finally everyone had gotten off except for a little old lady walking with a cane. She said, “Sir, do you mind if I ask you a question?”

“Why, no Ma’am,” said the pilot. “What is it?” The little old lady said,

“Did we land, or were we shot down?”

After a real crusher of a landing in Johannesburg , the attendant came on with, “Ladies and Gentlemen, please remain in your seats until Captain Crash and the Crew have brought the aircraft to a screeching halt against the gate. And, once the tire smoke has cleared and the warning bells are silenced, we will open the door and you can pick your way through the wreckage to the terminal..”

Part of a flight attendant’s arrival announcement: “We’d like to thank you folks for flying with us today.. And, the next time you get the insane urge to go blasting through the skies in a pressurized metal tube, we hope you’ll think of Kulula Airways.”

Heard on a Kulula flight. “Ladies and gentlemen, if you wish to smoke, the smoking section on this airplane is on the wing.. If you can light ‘em, you can smoke ‘em.”

A plane was taking off from Durban Airport . After it reached a comfortable cruising altitude, the captain made an announcement over the intercom, “Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. Welcome to Flight Number 293, non-stop from Durban to Cape Town , The weather ahead is good and, therefore, we should have a smooth and uneventful flight.. Now sit back and relax… OH, MY GOODNESS!” Silence followed, and after a few minutes, the captain came back on the intercom and said, “Ladies and Gentlemen, I am so sorry if I scared you earlier. While I was talking to you, the flight attendant accidentally spilled a cup of hot coffee in my lap. You should see the front of my pants!” A passenger then yelled, “That’s nothing. You should see the back of mine!”

GAME #2

The Hawai‘i Warriors did it. They pulled out a last second win over the Army Black Knights, 31-28. WOOT!!! Congratulations on the win UH.

It was a good game and one that Army looked like they were going to win with a field goal attempt. With less than a minute to go Army fumbled the ball but it was ruled down. The play was reviewed with the instant replay, was reversed, ruled a fumble and the ball went to UH. They moved the ball from their own 27-yard line down to the Black Knight’s 14-yard line and kicked a field goal with just 15 seconds remaining. Thank goodness there was a 15 yard penalty in there to help UH move the ball. But a win is a win. So again, congratulations go out to the Hawai‘i Warriors on their win. And congratulations to the Army Black Knights for a game well played.

The Warriors will now remain on the mainland as they prepare for a second straight road game at Colorado on Saturday, Sept. 18. Kickoff is 1:30 p.m. MT (9:30 a.m. HT) at Folsom Field.

USC 49 UH 36

Well as you may or may not know, the University of Hawai’i Warriors opened their football season tonight and they came up short. The final score was USC 49 UH 36. I was pretty impressed with the outcome. I thought it was going to be a blowout but it wasn’t. Our defense needs to step it up a little. They put on a lackluster performance. But the problem with tonights games was the officiating. It was just horrible all the way around. There were calls reversed, wrong calls made and just general mistakes. Yes this was the first game of the season, but the officials should have been more on the ball with this.

Congratulations go out to USC for the win and also to UH for putting up a tough fight.

The Warriors now head to the road for its next two games, beginning with a meeting against Army on Saturday, Sept. 11. Kickoff is 12:00 p.m. E.T.

Waipio Wins

LITTLE LEAGUE WORLD SERIES

The Waipio Little League team played Texas in the elimination bracket of the Little League World Series this morning for the US title. Waipio came out victorious 10-0. Ten run rule came into play. Congratulations Waipio! Keep up the good work. A big congratulations goes out to Texas as well. They made it a very good game and gave it their best. Waipio now advances to the World Champtionship final against Japan. The game will be played tomorrow morning, August 29th at 9 am Honolulu time. Good luck Waipio!

UH Wahine Softball Final Update for 2010

UH Wahine Softball Update

The UH Wahine Softball team unfortunately lost to UCLA 5-2 yesterday. They gave it there best but fell short. I’m still real proud of them. They will play later today the winner of the Washington-Arizona in an elimination game. You can get more information by clicking here.

UH Wahine Softball

The UH Wahine Softball team is making their first appearance in the Women’s College World Series, in Oklahoma, after upsetting top seed Alabama in the Super Regionals. This morning the tournament opened with UH playing Missouri. UH beat Missouri 3-2 and will now play the winner of the UCLA-Florida game to be played this afternoon. That game will be played tomorrow at 1 pm HST. You can see all the details by clicking here.

Sorry I haven’t been very responsive the last couple of days. I’m excited for the Winter Olympics and have been playing around with the widgets and getting my computer set up for all of that. And if you notice, yes, the widgets go outside of my side bar but oh well. If I make them smaller you can’t read them. So for a couple of weeks this will just have to do I’ll get back to responding and commenting after I get off work tonight. Yes I have to work my day off. Well I don’t have to but I am.
