Scenic Sunday 81
The Holleys host Scenic Sunday. Thanks a lot for hosting. From the Scenic Sunday blog comes this:
“Scenic Sunday is a photo meme of the scenery. It can be landscapes, buildings, flowers, or anything you feel it’s a scenery photo. This meme will be held every Weekend. To join, just post your scenery shots on your blog and link back to Scenic Sunday. Please do visit each other and comment.”
Of course this will be a post for a brand new adventure that Dr. John at Dr. John’s Fortress has started. Please click on his blog link or the picture below for further instructions. Mahalo Dr. John for hosting this new adventure. I look forward to it.

It means unluckiness
A while back, Doug at Waking Ambrose mentioned something about the buses here in Honolulu. I can’t remember the comment exactly but I think it had something to do with the color of them. Well it’s taken me some time mostly because of my scaevity with time, I don’t know where it always goes, but I thought for this Scenic Sunday I would show the different buses we have at work. Not very scenic to many I’m sure, but when it’s been your work for 20 years, which by the way I just made 20 years with my company on January 24, 2010, YAHOO…pffft, I thought I would share. I hope you enjoy.
- Hybrid Bus. Runs on Electric and Diesel
- Bus I drive on Sunday down in Waikiki
- NewFlyer Diesel Electric Hybrid
- NewFyler Articulated Bus
- NewFyler Diesel Electric Hybrid Articulated
- Giligs 30 footers for routes up in the valleys and hills
- NewFlyer Low Rider – Diesel
- Gilig Diesel 40 foot
Have a very happy Scenic Sunday everyone!
Hey, it’s only my opinion.
A Hui Hou

Wow does that bring back memories LOL except my Dad’s were blue. Hybrid buses? Well done Honolulu.
Ever have any kids sing Wheels on the Bus for sixty verses right behind you while you drive? LOL
I didn’t realize that we had that many different models! I’ve always liked the ones with the rainbow on it.
Thom, congrats on your twenty year anniversary. It is great that the company is using hybrid buses.
Wow, 20 years! Congrats
. I love the angles of your shots. Have a blessed week. xoxoxo
I bet those buses are comfortable to ride. Happy Sunday!
Frozen delight
Congratulations on 20 years with the company! You could probably write a book on interesting characters you’ve given a ride to over the years.
They are rather cool toys ya know? I don’t know why I’ve never had the desire to drive one of them… I certainly have the desire to drive a DUMP TRUCK! And a steeeeeam roller! Maybe even a backhoe. But busses? I just like to RIDE ‘em! It’s something I actually MISS living in the country!
Those buses are cool
Hope you are having a great time!
No rainbow paint jobs? Have they phased them all out?
Congrats on making 20 years!
So, you drive a bus? Hubby’s assistant’s husband drives TheBus, too. Don’t know his name and don’t know his route. He is from the Philippines. They recently bought a Lexus SUV, so obviously he’s well-paid! LOL.
you have hybrids? good on you!
appropriate scenery for the 20th anniversary – that must be a lot of miles!
Twenty years? Wow!
The buses are SO CLEAN! Congratulations, Thom. Sticking with anything for 20 years is an accomplishment these days. Add in the fact that you’ve had to deal with some of the bus riders and deal with labor/management issues — well even Jackie Gleason would say you da bomb!
Thanks for answering, Thom. You’re a good guy. I think I asked about the flashers, but it’s cool to see the buses. Probably moreso than the flashers.
Wow, 20 years, Congrats Buddy. Did you know that the New Flyer Buses are built in Canada? I miss driving the buses, maybe soon.
I am off to Cambridge, Kitchener/Waterloo on Tuesday and the testing for Bus Operator with Grand River Transit.
Hope you are having a wonderful vacation in Seattle. Safe trip home.
These buses make me want to go on a road trip. Yay to 20 years Thom! Congratulations.
So what I wanna know is:
Do you ever drive a low rider bus?
And if so, do you sing the low rider song?
[escapes before she can be hit by a rotten banana]
Congratulations Thom for your 20th anniversary. I would have made it to 20 if I did not quit my job after 17 years, 3 years ago. And this is how long I have been in my new job.
Wow, 20 years at one job! Congrats!
I have only ridden the bus once in Santa Barbara…but love public transportation in other cities lol
