Scenic Sunday

The Holleys host Scenic Sunday. Thanks a lot for hosting. From the Scenic Sunday blog comes this:

Scenic Sunday is a photo meme of the scenery. It can be landscapes, buildings, flowers, or anything you feel it’s a scenery photo. This meme will be held every Weekend. To join, just post your scenery shots on your blog and link back to Scenic Sunday. Please do visit each other and comment.”

This week I decided to post the first rainbow pictures that I took with my camera. The rainbow appeared late in the afternoon and I was so excited to get my first one that I didn’t pay attention to any settings as you can see. These were taken right from my house. But even if I had they would have probably come out looking like they did. Boy I gotta get the manual out and read it LOL. But when you see something who has time to fart around with a manual. I also couldn’t figure out how to get the whole rainbow in one shot as it was so big. But oh well. I hope you enjoy these shots.

Please click on the photos to make them bigger. Mahalo.

Have a very happy Scenic Sunday everyone!

  1. Those are nice!

I do the same thing with my camera — it does so much more than what I know how to do with it, and when I want to do something “right now” I don’t want to get the manual out. But then I don’t get it out between times, either.

  2. What a beautiful rainbow ! It’s ages I haven’t seen one ! I am back from the Ardennes and had a real nice Christmas. I hope you also had a nice one.

  3. I have never taken a decent rainbow photo. I am jealous of anyone who can. I am even more jealous that you took this for your house — that means the rainbow was over my house and I didn’t even see it!

  4. They are gorgeous!
    I haven’t seen a Rainbow in ages, sigh :)
But hey, that’s what bloggy friends are for :)
Now I can come here look at them :)

  5. Here’s mine, for what it’s worth. http://newstrangeworld.today.com/2009/12/27/scenic-winter-sunday-december-2009/
I didn’t take the photos, just gathered them from Photorack. I always wanted to learn more about photography but never got ’round to it.

    • Thanks I’ll take a look at them after work. :)

    • Hi Lily…I just got home and checked out the photos. They are beautiful. I’m glad you posted them. Well done. I wish I could leave a comment there but the only way is to become a member and I don’t want to do that. Sorry about that :)

  6. There’s a song in my head now. Somewhere over the rainbow …
I think I like the second one best.

Reading the manual does help you know?

  7. Wow rainbows! I love the palms underneath too.

  8. It is a lovely rainbow and wonderful that you were able to see it. I have had my camera a while now and I still do not know how to use all the gadgets and functions.

  9. ya, rainbow, all-time favorite.

  10. Rainbows are challenging shots under the BEST of conditions, but your captures are lovely … especially knowing the camera was new. I dig out my manual only when absolutely necessary but I did take a series of photo classes at Ritz camera right after I purchased my Nikon D60 there last January. I could use a refresher course about now. Thanks for sharing.
    Hugs and blessings,

  11. for not adjusting any settings those pix came out great!

    pretty cool =)

  12. Beautiful Rainbow! Thanks for sharing your pictures.

  13. i’m officially envious! what a beautiful rainbow!

the safest way to get decent results is to keep WB on auto and let the camera do the maths.of course, even so it can sometimes get it wrong.
if you don’t want to read the manual, go out and shoot – you may not become world’s greatest photographer but some ‘errors’ can turn out quite effective

    • I’m glad you enjoyed these. I know you have told me about white balance before. I gotta check the manual about that. Thanks for the tips. ALWAYS appreciated.

  14. Perfect shots for a senic meme. They are really beautiful. I’m glad that you posted several of them.
I’ve had my camera longer than you’ve had yours and I just started tryng to figure it out. :)

  15. You can come visit me and you’ll get plenty of practice photographing rainbows!

I still haven’t read my manual either, gotta do that. Hmmm, New Year’s Resolution maybe…

    • Well I can use all the practice I can get. Too bad it’s so many thousands of miles away LOL. Hell with manuals…it’s just better to point and shoot and hope for the best :)

  16. It wasn’t New Year’s YET yesterday either! Sheeeeeesh! We still have 4 days and 1 hour and 28 minutes until the new year! Right now it is Happy OLD year! And your rainbow is beautiful! You don’t fiddle with a manual – you read it. And you don’t read it when you SEE something. You read it when you’re doing nothing – except reading the manual. Then you fidget with the camera to learn how to do the things you read about… but you only fiddle when you want music. And now we are one minute closer to the new year!

    • What you talkin’ ’bout Willis? Fiddle Dee Fiddle Dumb. ROFLMAO I knew I would drive some one nuts with my New Years stuff and I’m doing an excellent job. LOL

  17. Hi Thom! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas celebration with your loved ones. Happy New Year!
