Saturday 9 – Wedding Bell Blues and An Award

Welcome to Saturday 9. What we’ve committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do “random questions,” so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don’t have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today’s meme!
1. If you have been or are married, tell us about your wedding. If you are not, tell us how would you want it to be. See number 6 below. These are similar questions and deserve the same response.
2. What age would you encourage your children to get married? Whenever they wanted to be saddled with the good old ball and chain.
3. Who got married at the last wedding that you attended? I dunno. I have CRS so I have no clue.
4. Do you enjoy weddings and receptions? Yup, free food and booze.
5. Have you cried at a wedding? Please, me cry? Not on your life.
6. Would you prefer a lavish event or a intimate ceremony? Neither. It would be at the court house, during lunch, with a Justice of the Peace.
7. Have you ever been in some one’s wedding party? If yes, do tell. Yeah, I was chief janitor and bottle washer.
8. Does a wedding make you happy and sentimental or grouchy and skeptical? This says it all:
9. Why do you think our divorce rate is so high? Again, this says it all:
On another note, my Belgian Bombshell, Jientje at Heaven is in Belgium awarded me another award.
Thank you so much Jientje. You know how I like these and I’m very honored and grateful that you gave this to me. Mahalo my friend. Now of course, there are those that just have to put their two cents worth in one someone gets an award. Without naming names, Quilly at Quintessentially Quilly, this anonymous person had this to say:
Jientje had these rules:
This award was created by Ces in honor of her dear friend Bella to “celebrate art, inspiration, friendship, sisterhood, sharing and caring”.
I’m going to pass this award on to five blogger friends to thank them for their friendship, comments and inspiration.

Hey, it’s only my opinion.

Pheeww, what a questionary ! After 40 years of marriage I don’t even remember how it feels to be married or not, lol ! (My husband is Italian) One thing is for sure I didn’t cry !
OMG this is too funny. LOL. Why the hell would anyone cry is what I’d like to know. Isn’t it suppose to be a happy occasion? LOL
PS. I didn’t know you were Jientje’s sister either hahahaha !
Oh yes, I’m the evil one
LOL
Thom — welcome to the Sisterhood! Did you wear a muumuu and lipstick while accepting this? You are the King of sarcastic meme!
Did you not see the mumu dressed man and the lips in the post? LOL So I dawned it will accepting and passing LOL
I must have missed something here. To me an award is an award, sisterhood, brotherhood … Makes no difference to me, really?
What’s a muumuu anyway?
Doesn’t to me, but you know Quilly LOL. So I just had to go with it. Here is the definition of muumuu: The muumuu or muumuu is a loose dress of Hawaiian origin that hangs from the shoulder. Like the Aloha shirt, muumuu exports are often brilliantly colored with floral patterns of generic Polynesian motifs. Muumuu for local Hawaiian residents are more subdued in tone
Okay. Get the picture.
OOOOooohhh Noooooooooooooo!
ROFLMAO!
*Snort*
Sorry! I’m dying here!
Oh no…don’t do that LOL
ROFLMAO…Too funny
Love your nr.7
Congrats on your introduction to sisterhood, Thom!!
Glad you enjoyed and Thank you
LOL It’s a fun place to be
You know what I like about you is your “Smart Ass” attitude. Loved the Marilyn n’ Billy song. Congrats on the award. I wasn’t over to visit Jientje so don’t know if
BufordQuillster was nominated. Sounds like Sour Grapes to me.“Have Bus Wench Will Travel”
Oh it did work by clearing the Cache and cookies and History.
LOL…no she was just being herself. LOL. You know Q and awards, she doesn’t care if she gets them. Funny when I was going after those songs I thought of you and all the classics you come up with
Glad clearing the cache worked
aloha
Well you know
LucyQuilly, I was actually going to look for this song and link it to my last comment but you beat me to adding it to the post. Now I got to Out Doo yeLOL…what a great song that is. I’ve never heard of it or the Willows. Fits perfectly. Aloha
This could be that Bus Wench song, provided the right one comes along.
At Midnight MDT about 2000 hrs your time there will be another Close Up picture posted on the blog for all of ye to go visit and guess what it may be. Don’t let me down, Quilly beat you on the last two. I actually made it easy for ye.
Like THIS
“6. Would you prefer a lavish event or a intimate ceremony? Neither. It would be at the court house, during lunch, with a Justice of the Peace.”
Doesn’t that sound intimate to you? LOL
(And congratulations, again. You’re gonna run out of space on your sidebar.
)
You know, reading your comment I think you are right ROFLMAO. I’m gonna think of something else to put them in. I’ve seen like a slide show type of thing you can put them in. LOL. Was Cat on Conan? That woman has legs for days. Well you know how Trav is LOL. The week she wore pants he was fit to be tied
LOL
She was on Conan, in a very short skirt (which she wore very well) and 3″ heels. I sure hope Trav got a chance to see it.
Me too cuz she was the bomb. I’m gonna put the link so he can see it on his blog LOL
Hey! I can read your blog again – yay!
So, about WHICH of my two weddings should I reveal details?
Oh do spill sister. You know me, I’ll keep my mouth shut ROFLMAO. It will just be our little secret.
I could divulge. Or I could make you dig in my archives. I keep very few secrets when it comes to my life. Then again, maybe I haven’t written this story…
Either way works for me
LOL
Good I’m glad I got it fixed. Both my friend I like details on everything LOL
I never could understand why people cry at weddings, either. And if you cry at a wedding, which is a happy event, does that mean you laugh at a funeral, a sad event?
What a good point. Well done
Aloha
Congrats on the award Thom.
You sound very cynical about marriage – I can recommend it.
Oh my friend. You should know me by now LOL I’m that way with most things LOL Mahalo
So when you are the chief janitor/bottle washer etc. do you still get free booze?
http://iamharriet.blogspot.com/2009/07/woot-for-saturday.html
That’s the only way I get it LOL
I’d call the justice of the peace kind the ultimate in “intimate” marriages, don’tcha think? Have a great Saturday!
That I do and not expensive at all LOL. Have a great Saturday as well
LOL love your answers!!! If I had to do it all over again………..ummmm NO! =)
Thank you for stopping by. I appreciate it. LOL…I think I agree with you
Aloha
Dangerous questions! I wanted to just run away for our wedding but got outvoted, one to one. Had to the big church white dress thing and HATED it, but our reception was in a friend’s pub and lasted until 5:30 the next morning, thanks be to God.
If CRS stands for Can’t Remember Shit, I’m there with you. I tried to think of our last wedding, and uh…uh….uh… Dang. Oh Lord this is just sad. Is it age, or the drinking I used to do?
Yes you got that right. It is can’t remember shit LOL. It’s the drinking that I still do LOL. Your wedding sounds like it was fun, even though you were a blushing bride in a white dress hating every minute of it LOL
Thanks! The wedding sucked (from what I remember) but the party after was great; lots of Elvis impersonations and flying underpants. Very Irish.
Flying undies? Hope they were clean at least and didn’t have any streaks on ‘em. Must have been a bunch of “Burning Love” gonna on there
Congrats on the award and have a great weekend!
Mahalo and you as well my friend
My guess is you’re not married, Thom… Love the 5th Dimension! I’ve been married a long, long time!
Ummmm you got that right. Not now not ever LOL. I do admire people that remain married for a long time
Oh and congrats on the award!
Mahalo
Thom once again you make me smile with your most creative answers. I love that song DIVORCE and used to sing it when we were fighting as a young couple now after 22 years it does not bother him and sometimes sings with me LOL
OMG that is just too funny. Classic comment
Wow! I have been trying to catch up on your posts. Congrats on all of the wonderful awards.
You are a writing whiz. I am in awe. Sorry I have not been around, but I still have to sign in on this thing before I post. whaaa, whaaa…
I will try to be a better blog friend. Thanks for the tags.
HUGS, Pam
You are an excellent blog friend. Have you registered yet? You might try that. Then you don’t have to do all the signing in. Nope I just looked you haven’t registered LOL Thanks for you thinking I’m a good writer. I just put down what I’m thinking. LOL. Mahalo on your comments about the awards as well
Aloha
I don’t care if it’s a brotherhood or a sisterhood award. It’s a token of friendship to me? And you deserved it. Hey, this is only MY opinion?
Indeed my friend. And as I said, I just went with what Quilly started. I love to do things like that.
*Giggles*
I want to see a pic of you giving the awards with skirt and lipstick!!!
Stay tuned LOL
I will
Oh, Thom Terrific!
Great post and comments.
I had to sit and listen to the videos – boy they sure do take me back. I used sing with Tammy at the breakfast table listening to the transitor radio before school.
My wedding: small, intimate, in the chuch I grew up in, and almost 35 years later I wouldn’t change a thing.
It is so refreshing to know that people can and do have a great marriage. Yeah, this brought back memories for me as well. Mahalo for the comment. It’s wonderful
Those songs were perfect! Congrats on your award. Enjoy your Saturday…
Thank you very much. Enjoy your weekend as well
Aloha
Congratulations on your award. You deserve it.
You know I am available to do weddings.
Thank you. And if I’m ever in the market, you will be the first to know. I would need someone that I trust to say my I do’s with someone else for forever. LOL
