INERPRETATIONS

There was an old saying once upon a time: When The Devil Rides To Work On A Snowmobile. Now there were some people that just didn’t grasp the meaning of the old idiom especially those that lived in an area of the world where it never snowed. Most people in areas like that had ever heard of a snowmobile let alone see one on TV, an ad or in real life. So it meant absolutely nothing to them. The idiom had lost it’s meaning to them. But they continued to use it on a daily basis. Take for instance:

Walden the Whale and Dirty Rat Benjamin of Bloomenthall Battlefield. You might not think that whales and rats could talk but as legend goes The Dragons taught them and taught them well. It had something to do with the Dragon’s Code of Ethics that all animals must know how to communicate with one another. It was a painstaking lesson for The Dragons to teach these two very different species any communication abilities at all. Just looking at them, one a huge mammal living in the depths of the ocean blue and the other a sneaky little bugger that roamed the bowels of society and yes even visited human abodes every now and then, one would think this would be an impossibility. Despite this The Dragons succeeded in teaching them to talk. And throughout the years the two species taunted each other as to who had the superior race. Of course Walden and Benjamin continued this bantering and when they uttered the idiom they both just laughed as they had no clue what a snowmobile even was. It was just words to them and fun to say.

On the other hand Frankie Frogman and Cindy Cell Phone, husband and wife, were on an expedition to find the value of electronic equipment deep in the jungles of the Amazon. Frankie was there to test the waterproof camera that had just been designed and Cindy the water proof cell phone. Somehow the water was to charge the battery in the phone. Well of course the test took months to complete and by the end of the expedition both Frankie and Cindy were ready to leave the jungle. The food was horrible, it never stopped raining and the equipment was failing all tests miserably. It was a place that neither one of them wanted to go again and both vowed to quit their jobs and sail the world once they got back home. So when either one of them spoke the idiom they were referring to the expedition and they just figured it was good enough code so their superiors would never know they were going to quit.

On the other hand some people living in non-snow areas knew the exact meaning. Fearless Freddie. His parents owned a huge flower farm and everyone in the family had to help out. Even Freddie. It was a successful farm and Freddie knew one day it would be his. But he was a child he thought and it was a time to play. So whenever his parents told him to go out pull weeds and water a portion of the farm, under his breath Freddie would mumble the idiom, leave the house and play with his trucks and army men in the field. He continued this until he heard one of his parents coming up and then would quickly gather his toys, scamper away and start weeding. The Devil did Arrive To Work On A Snowmobile.

Hey, it’s only my opinion.
