microfictionmonday

Susan at Stony River Farm hosts Microfiction Monday. She posts a picture and you compose a story in 140 characters. You can click on the photo or link above to get further instructions. To help you along she has posted a wonderful link that counts your characters for you! How great is that! You can get the counter at Design 215. This meme is easy and it’s a blast. Mahalo Susan for hosting. This is great fun and I encourage everyone to participate.

The Picture

“One Ringy Dingy!”

“Oh for goodness sakes Ernestine. Shut up! Would you? I know how many times the telephone has rung.”

“Two Ringy Dingy!”

Have a telephonic Microfiction Monday.

Hey, it’s only my opinion.

  3. I love Lily Tomlin’s operator routine! Good one, Thom.

  4. I never even thought of Ernestine! Too funny!

Mine is scheduled to post at 1 a.m. — after Punny Monday.

  5. THAT got a giggle from me, for sure! Where do you guys get your ideas? I don’t have a talent for writing fiction.

    • LOL…I’m glad you enjoyed. I dunno where it comes from. I just took a look and thought old and then Lily Tomlin jumped into my brain. I bet you’d be great at it. You should give this a whirl. It’s great fun :)

  6. *snort* yup, love that Lily Tomlin character too!! Nice take this week Thom!

  7. It is funny, one of the last things I did before leaving for the plane is watched some Lily Tomlin Ernestine clips on youtube.

    I loved this.

  8. LOL have you ever used a phone like that Thom???

  9. Ha! Perfect, Thom! I can see her with her fingers in her cleavage as we speak. Love it.

  10. OMG did THAT bring back memories! And isn’t there always *one* fool in the family that makes you just want to hang up when you hear their voice on the other end of the line? ROFL
    This was great!

  11. Thom, thanks for the great Lily Tomlin memory! She was such a stitch! And since my kids don’t know about ‘operators’ or the BELL MONOPOLY, it would be wasted on them! Ha ha!

  12. That phone is ancient, isn’t it? I might see one like that in a museum.

  13. Back in the day, you hand to count the rings, because you had a party line. Each person had an individual ring.

  14. Ernestine’s gonna get a smack in the mouth I can tell! LOL

  15. LOL! I do remember Ernestine but I never would have thought to put her together with this picture. Perfect!

  16. i thought right away this was funny but after reading the comments i see i’ve got some googling to do (serves me right for having lived behind the iron curtain for a number of years)

  17. Oh man does THAT bring back memories!

Well of course I was a small child then. ;)

    You always make me smile…thanks!

  18. LOL! Oh, I MISS Ernestine! She was GRRRREAT!
