The Hawai‘i Warriors beat the Utah State Aggies 45-7 in a game that started off looking not so good for UH. They had two interceptions in the end zone right off the bat. But they survived and even the dreaded 3rd Quarter was good. They stepped up their game. The weather was horrible in Logan, very rainy and cold, but they survived. Congratulations on the win UH. And Utah State you put up a good game but just came up short.

UH now returns to Aloha Stadium for a homecoming game versus Idaho on Saturday, Oct. 30. Kickoff is at 5:30 p.m. Go Warriors!!! Beat the Vandals.

In other news Ria’s at Short Attention Span Theatre teams, the Temple Owls took on the University at Buffalo Bulls and beat them soundly 42-0. Way to go Temple. Job well done. Next up for the Owls are the University of Akron Zips on October 30, 2010. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish played the Navy Midshipmen and unfortunately lost 35-17. Sorry to hear that Ria but as I have said before there is always next weekend. In fact, the Fighting Irish take on the University of Tulsa Golden Hurricane on October 30, 2010.

Congratulations to the ALCS champions Texas Rangers and the NLCS champions San Francisco Giants. Both teams now go to the World Series. It’s going to be a good one. So grab a drink, get a hot dog and popcorn and enjoy this series. And just for your information I’m rooting for the Rangers. Go Rangers! Beat the Giants.

The Hawai‘i Warriors beat the nationally ranked #19/#21 Nevada Wolf Pack 27-21. It was quite a game. Nevada when it receives the ball on the initial kick off has scored every single time this year. But the Warriors stopped that streak and it set the tone for the game. We had a great first half, going into the locker room with a 17-0 lead. But as I have said all along then comes the dreaded 3rd quarter and now it seems like the whole 2nd half. Nevada started to come back in the second half and actually made it a great game. But they just couldn’t get past our team. UNR you played a great game and it’s always a pleasure seeing you play. But alas, you are leaving the WAC. Good luck. And UH Way To Go!!!! You made us all proud here in Hawai’i and it was a well deserved win. Congratulations.

Next up, the Warriors travel to Logan, Utah to battle the Utah State Aggies on Sat. Oct. 23. Go Warriors!!! Beat the Aggies.

In other news, G-Man’s, Mr. Knowitall, team Michigan Wolverines took on the #15 Iowa Hawkeyes and for the second week in a row came up on the wrong side of the stick, losing 38-28. A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose.

Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil; without saying a word.

In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl.

Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl. Turning to her daughter, she asked, “Tell me what you see.”

“Carrots, eggs, and coffee,” she replied.

Her mother brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft. The mother then asked the daughter to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg.
Finally, the mother asked the daughter to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled, as she tasted its rich aroma the daughter then asked, “What does it mean, mother?”

Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity: boiling water. Each reacted differently. The carrot went in strong, hard, and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak. The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior, but after sitting through the boiling water, its insides became hardened. The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water.

“Which are you?” she asked her daughter. “When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?

Think of this: Which am I? Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength?

Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff? Does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and hardened heart?

Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor. If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you. When the hour is the darkest and trials are their greatest, do you elevate yourself to another level? How do you handle adversity? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?

May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human and enough hope to make you happy.

The happiest of people don’t necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way. The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; you can’t go forward in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.

When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling.

Live your life so at the end, you’re the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.

You might want to send this message to those people who mean something to you (I JUST DID); to those who have touched your life in one way or another; to those who make you smile when you really need it; to those who make you see the brighter side of things when you are really down; to those whose friendship you appreciate; to those who are so meaningful in your life.

Congratulations to the Warriors! They beat the Bulldogs 49-27. WOOT!!! UH went into the game as the underdog and came out victorious. It was a great game. There were plenty of penalties, however but they played a much better game in the dreaded 3rd quarter. Way to go UH. Fresno State put up a good game but just not good enough. Again Congratulations to the Warriors!

UH now returns home for a first-place showdown against nationally ranked Nevada on Saturday, Oct. 16. Kickoff is 5:30 p.m. at Aloha Stadium.

Well we scored another win. WOOT!!! Way to Go Warriors. They beat the Bulldogs 41 – 21. Of course the 2nd half they played worse than the first half. It always seems to happen like that. Congratulations LA Tech for giving us a good game and your making the game more interesting in the 2nd half. I have to say I’m not liking that the plays can be reviewed. It makes the games a lot longer now and it just seems to take a little fun out of college ball. Let the call stand that was called on the field I say.

It was a rout from the very beginning and the Warriors beat the Buccaneers 66-7. When the games get like this they are real boring to me. I like the win but I rather have a game develop. We all had fun though. Congratulations UH on your win. And Charleston Southern nice try and you put up a decent fight. Way to go Warriors. Now the real season begins with conference games starting.

Well what started off as a good game turned into a disaster. The Colorado Buffaloes beat the Hawai‘i Warriors, 31-13. The Warrirors were leading at the half 10-0 and then came the dreaded 3rd Quarter. They seem to always play crappy in this quarter and once again they did. But you can’t win them all I suppose. Congratulations Colorado on your win. Very well played. UH you played well but need to work on your defense.

The Warriors now return home for its first game at Aloha Stadium in more than three weeks. Hawai‘i will take on Charleston Southern on Saturday, Sept. 25, with kickoff at 5:30 p.m.

With some better news, G-Man’s, Mr. Knowitall, beloved Michigan Wolverines beat the Massachusetts Minutemen, 42-37. Way to go Big Blue.

The Hawai‘i Warriors did it. They pulled out a last second win over the Army Black Knights, 31-28. WOOT!!! Congratulations on the win UH.

It was a good game and one that Army looked like they were going to win with a field goal attempt. With less than a minute to go Army fumbled the ball but it was ruled down. The play was reviewed with the instant replay, was reversed, ruled a fumble and the ball went to UH. They moved the ball from their own 27-yard line down to the Black Knight’s 14-yard line and kicked a field goal with just 15 seconds remaining. Thank goodness there was a 15 yard penalty in there to help UH move the ball. But a win is a win. So again, congratulations go out to the Hawai‘i Warriors on their win. And congratulations to the Army Black Knights for a game well played.

The Warriors will now remain on the mainland as they prepare for a second straight road game at Colorado on Saturday, Sept. 18. Kickoff is 1:30 p.m. MT (9:30 a.m. HT) at Folsom Field.

Isn’t the human body amazing?

As Brand Manager in the Feminine-Hygiene Division, you’ve no doubt seen quite a bit of research on what exactly happens during your customer’s monthly visits from ‘Aunt Flo’. Therefore, you must know about the bloating, puffiness, and cramping we endure, and about our intense mood swings, crying jags, and out-of-control behavior. You surely realize it’s a tough time for most women.

The point is, sir, you of all people must realize that America is just crawling with homicidal maniacs in Capri pants… Which brings me to the reason for my letter. Last month, while in the throes of cramping so painful I wanted to reach inside my body and yank out my uterus, I opened an Always maxi-pad, and there, printed on the adhesive backing, were these words: ‘Have a Happy Period.’

Are you f—— kidding me? What I mean is, does any part of your tiny middle-manager brain really think happiness – actual smiling, laughing happiness, is possible during a menstrual period? Did anything mentioned above sound the least bit pleasurable? Well, did it, James? FYI, unless you’re some kind of sick S&M freak, there will never be anything ‘happy’ about a day in which you have to jack yourself up on Motrin and Kahlua and lock yourself in your house just so you don’t march down to the local Walgreen’s armed with a hunting rifle and a sketchy plan to end your life in a blaze of glory.

For the love of God, pull your head out, man! If you have to slap a moronic message on a maxi pad, wouldn’t it make more sense to say something that’s actually pertinent, like ‘Put down the Hammer’ or ‘Vehicular Manslaughter is Wrong’.

Sir, please inform your Accounting Department that, effective immediately, there will be an $8 drop in monthly profits, for I have chosen to take my maxi-pad business elsewhere. And though I will certainly miss your Flex-Wings, I will not for one minute miss your brand of condescending bullsh!t. And that’s a promise I will keep.

Well as you may or may not know, the University of Hawai’i Warriors opened their football season tonight and they came up short. The final score was USC 49 UH 36. I was pretty impressed with the outcome. I thought it was going to be a blowout but it wasn’t. Our defense needs to step it up a little. They put on a lackluster performance. But the problem with tonights games was the officiating. It was just horrible all the way around. There were calls reversed, wrong calls made and just general mistakes. Yes this was the first game of the season, but the officials should have been more on the ball with this.

Congratulations go out to USC for the win and also to UH for putting up a tough fight.

The Warriors now head to the road for its next two games, beginning with a meeting against Army on Saturday, Sept. 11. Kickoff is 12:00 p.m. E.T.
