Things are busy here. As most of you know I have gone days and I don’t like it. That damn alarm going off in the morning…well it’s just not pleasant. But When 1 pm comes I think that wasn’t so bad. Myrna is doing very well. She’s finally gaining weight and eating more. But we have some sad news. My hanai brother Henry has prostate cancer and there is something going on with his walking. They did a bone scan and there is no cancer there so he is scheduled for and MRI Monday to see why he’s having such a hard time walking. My guess of course is something is wrong with one of his discs or spinal column. Who knows but we will get answers to that problem after the MRI. As far as the prostate he has decided to have surgery and have it removed. They will then find out how close the cancer cells are to the wall of the prostate to see if he will have to do radiation after the surgery. Apparently if the cancer cells in the prostate are close to the wall they could have gotten into his body and all tests so far can’t tell you that until the pathology report comes out. He is in good spirits as is the rest of the family. So now we have one more to take care of in the house but that’s what family is for.

On a happier note, and I say this lightly, I went into Costco yesterday and saw the following and couldn’t believe my eyes. It’s only August for crap’s sake. Of course I thought of our one and only Hootin’ Anni. Don’t ask me why.

I have gotten rid of my email address trhnlhi@tp4ww.com I was getting way to many spam emails and got sick of it. You can use either tr05prius@gmail.com or trhnlhi@me.com Either one will do.

So with all this being said I still am not going to be on a regular posting schedule. Things are a little hectic still with work and now with Henry…doesn’t leave a lot of time. I do twitter a great deal and Google+ and for those of you not there it’s great. You can see me there by clicking on the Badge in my sidebar. Facebook isn’t that important to me either so I’m not there much either. I guess what I’m saying is Google+ is the place to be.

I’m off to go camping tomorrow, Friday, and then next week I have family coming to visit for a while and will be on vacation enjoying them and being a tour guide here in our Island Paradise. I’m anxious to see my family. Will be nice. So I will return when I return. You all behave and again, boys and girls, don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.

Another special birthday happening today is Carletta at ROUND THE BEND father. He had the same birthday as my Grandfather so I wish him a very Happy Birthday and my thoughts are with Carletta today as well.

Well as most of you know I’ve been away for a little over a week and I might as well come out with it right up front: I’m going to be away for some time as well. First things first. After my blog was shut down come to find out it wasn’t the cause of it at all. It was something else and through the persistance of Bert at Web Considerations all has been taken care of and things are running smoothly. Mahalo Bert for all you did for me on this. I really appreciate it. Awww the joys of having your own blog. It’s always something and I must say that something is always worth the little extra effort.

Okay why am I going to be away for a while? I have been driving bus for 21 years now. In fact the 24th of this month. I’m sorta getting bored with it. I would say about a month or two ago our company had posted for a new job opening. Well I applied and I found out that I was one of the four selected. I was sort of shocked because you know me…my mouth just seems to have a mind of it’s own and in the interview it was no different. Anyway, this job is temporary. It’s in our Central Control. That is the area that does all the communications between the buses, road supervisors and dispatch. We all have one place to call into and it’s our Central Control.

Now by temporary after the training period is over with I will still be driving bus unless I’m need to fill-in in Central Control. It’s sort of on-call. The good thing about this is I am learning a new part of the company and yet get to still drive bus because it is temporary. When a full time slot opens you apply for that and the process begins all over again. But that is way down the road. So the training starts Tuesday, January 18th. I understand it last for about one month and during that time you learn the various shifts. Keep in mind our Central Control is open 24/7. My days off will be going to Sat/Sun for a while until they tell me otherwise. So until I am through the training I wont be doing any posting.

I know I’ve been absent a lot in the last few months. I also understand that when people get like that some will quit coming around. Hey, that’s okay with me because those that do weren’t real good friends in the first place. This is a great opportunity for me to learn another phase of the company and I’m looking forward to it. After I find out what this entails I’ll post and I will get back to my posting when the training is all complete. Yes The Muffed Target will return so hold those photos. As usual you can still keep in touch with Twitter, Facebook, Email, Phone however you want is fine with me. I wont be commenting on blogs during this training period either. But that doesn’t mean I don’t read your posts. So I leave you for a while longer just from this blog. Nothing else.

One other thing I have to say here. I’ve been posting on Twitter and Facebook about this but I want to say it on my blog. Today it will be day 16 that I started taking Chantix and 9 days without a cigarette. After going through this COPD with my hanai mom it made me realize that something had to be done and no one was going to do it but me. So I started taking the pills and during the first week you can smoke. That’s why I don’t have the same number of days as taking the pills. Has it been easy? No but easier than I expected. The thing I’m finding the hardest is the habit and knowing what to do with my hands. But the good news is I’m doing it. No I don’t feel different yet. I don’t smell things differently yet. Food doesn’t taste different to me yet. I think me and my clothes smell better. I’m not eating all the time. I’m just being me without the smoke in my mouth or in my ashtray. This is a three month program and it costs me $130.00 a month. Peanuts compared to the amount that I smoked in 16 days at, let’s say, $8.00 a pack, $128.00 … I’m way ahead of the game.

So there are some changes in my life and it’s all good. Positive thinking I say and will always continue to say. Mahalo to all of you especially those of you that stick around while I’m doing all of this. I’m deeply grateful and humbled by the friends I’ve made on this blog. Most of you feel as if I’ve met you personally. Wow what a feeling.

Let me assure you this has nothing to do with Bert at Web Considerations. He in fact is holding my sanity together with this whole thing. His customer service has, and always has been, outstanding. I feel that my blog is taking the brunt because it is a busy one. It’s not the busiest by any stretch of the imagination but it’s busy enough and I feel that it’s being used as a scape goat. So until I get to the bottom of this I am not going to subject myself or my readers and/or commentors to this blogs behavior.

I haven’t been very attentive to the contest or my blog since the beginning of December. I’m giving it as much time as I can. My hanai mom fell and fractured her right leg the day after Thanksgiving. On that Friday we took her too emergency and they thought it was her hip bone. Thank goodness it wasn’t. But it ended up to be a fracture in her upper right thigh. They inserted pins on Sunday and she was released from the hospital this last Friday. She is doing very well but at almost 80 (Dec. 22) recovery is slow. We have all been having to pay a lot of attention to her and get a schedule worked out. That is why I haven’t been around as much as I thought I would. I’ve had to learn nursing duties that I never thought I would EVER have to do. And I’m like a bull in a china shop so you can just imagine. But things are going well. She’s doing well, although I think she is lazy with the wheelchair and doesn’t like to get up a lot. So this will probably continue for a while so I will be here on and off. I know you all understand I just wanted to let you all know.

My trip to the mainland to see my family was excellent. It was way to cold for me of course. I’m just not use to having to wear a jacket, long pants, socks, shoes etc ALL the time. My Mom, Sister and Sister-in-Law are all doing very well. We had a real good time. Ate and drank plenty. The Nevada Day Parade was great. I got to see my dear friend Nancy (I’ve known her all my life it seems like). Was great to be with her as well. The visit was a short one but we got in a lot and just being with them was all that matters. You can see the photos that I took by clicking on MY FLICKR ACCOUNT.

The 12 Days of Christmas, Island Style

As a side note on The 12 Days of Christmas, Island Style I have four invites left. If you are a winner and have a Facebook account, you will be eligible to win the invite from Quilly and Myself. We will announce those winners after the contest. Again we will use the Random Number Generator to choose the four winners. This my friends, is all predicated on the fact that I still have them after the contest. I have been reading that sometimes they aren’t available after RocketMelt gives them out but I have had mine since I signed up so it is looking pretty good. Remember you must have a Facebook Account and must be one of the 12 winners to qualify for this random drawing we are going to have.

Our contest will most likely be my only posts for the first half of December and then after that I’m going to do what I have time for. My blog will get back into full business the beginning of next year. On that note, I am giving up doing Portrait of Words. There is not enough participation to continue that meme. It takes a lot of work and only to get a couple of stories just isn’t worth my time and effort. So if anyone is looking to begin hosting this, please contact me. The same time this posts it should be wheels up as I begin my way across the Pacific for parts unknown on an airline I really like. How’s that for an intro? LOL Seriously I’m going to visit my family in Nevada for a while. And when I return home I’m going to be busy learning another program, Ping.fm as well as getting my yard ready for Christmas decorations. I’m doing a whole new thing in the yard this year and basically starting from scratch. It takes me days to get it completed. What does this all mean? Well boys and girls, I’m not going to be posting for the entire month of November. I’m going AWOL!!! Now I know most of you will be cheering, hooting and hollering with joy for a break from the insanity here in my playground to which I say BITE ME!!! But to those of you that think you might miss all of this, there is always Twitter, Email, the Phone and of course snail mail to keep up with my shenanigans. Portrait of Words, The Muffed Target, The Quizzes and Jokes will resume January, 2011. With my absence for the month and then December being a huge holiday month I’m putting these all on hold. I’m not so sure that the quizzes will return. I’ve found something else I might be posting instead. You will see in January. Along with that there will be a contest held monthly for The Muffed Target. Yup You heard it right. The more participants, the bigger the prize. Portrait of Words I’m still debating if I am even going to bring that back. The participation is horrible and has been ever since Dr. John and I took it over. It’s a lot of work for maybe 1 or 2 stories. So we shall see. And be getting ready for the 2nd Annual (new name here but it’s still going to be loads of fun):

Then the Muslims could be allowed to show their tolerance.

Today we ripped this meme from three people! The first eight questions were ripped from a blogger and blog called Foxymoron. She explains that she stole it from The Harridan. The second part of this meme was written by some blog buddies of ours since WTIT: The Blog first published in ’06. Mr Lance from Solitary Views and Frank from Foxxfyrrer’s Honk ‘n’ Holl’r! They decided to do a “two blogs meme” by asking each other 5 questions each. One question they actually never even asked! A new Internet worm dubbed “Here You Have” is streaming into worldwide inboxes, offering a dangerous payload, according to McAfee Labs. The worm, which travels via spam email with the subject line of “Here you have,” or “Just for you,” masquerades as an email with a link to a video or an attached document file. However, the email actually contains a link to a malicious program that can disable security software and send itself to all the contacts in the recipient’s address book.

Corporations around the world were particularly affected by the worm on Thursday as it clogged up their email systems. Consumers could be affected as they go home and log onto their machines. For this reason, McAfee Labs has labeled the worm as a “medium” risk, and warns all computer users to delete any email with the “Here you have,” or “Just for you,” subject line.

Although the dangerous link has been taken down, neutralizing the threat, it can still spread through remote machines, mapped drives and removable media, Labs warns.

If you have an up-to-date and properly configured McAfee security software product then you are protected against this threat.

The Hook: You receive a spam email with the subject line “Here you have,” or “Just for you,” and a link or attachment that looks like it leads to a video or document file. It may appear that the email comes from someone you know.

The Methods: The email invites you to click on the link, and once you do it prompts you to download a file. This file is actually malware that disables the security software on your machine and sends itself to everyone listed as a contact in your address book.

The Dangers: Once you are infected, your computer has diminished security protection. Your machine is also being used to spam your friends and contacts. If you are on a corporate network, the network could be clogged as the worm works its way through address books.

Bottom Line: Do not click on the link in any email with the subject header “Here you have,” or “Just for you,” even if it appears to be from someone you know.

Tips to Avoid Becoming a Victim:

Never click on a link in a spam email or IM from someone you don’t know. Be suspicious of strange emails from family or friends: their accounts may have been compromised.

Use comprehensive security software, like McAfee Internet Security software, to protect you from viruses, spam, and other Internet threats, and keep the software up-to-date. Save on McAfee Internet Security.

Set your operating system and browser to automatically apply updates.
