Aloha Friday – #124

written by Thom - March 4th, 2010 at 10:01 pm

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday. This is hosted by Kailani at An Island Life. Mahalo my friend for hosting. You can get further instructions by clicking that link or on the picture above. Direct from her blog comes the following:

“In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link on her blog. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!”

So my question is:

When you visit other Blogs do you ever go to the Blogroll and visit those Blogs and is it important to have a Blogroll one your Blog?

My answer is:

Rarely do I visit other Blogs from a Blogroll and I’m trying to figure out if it is worth it to even have a Blogroll on my Blog. I think most people ignore the sidebar information a great deal and I’m interested in others thoughts on this.

Have a great Aloha Friday everyone!

Hey, it’s only my opinion.

  1. I don’t look at blogrolls. I have a hard enough time fitting in visits to people who visit me to go randomly looking for new blogs.

    Flash 55 – Earthquake

    One Single Impression – Running

  2. Thom, Sometimes I do, but it really depends, I like the blogrolls that have the last post title. that is the kind I put on my side bar. that way I know I am visiting something that interest me.

  3. When I first started blogging/reading blogs, I did pay close attention to others blogrolls. But, now I have so many favorites that I follow on my own, I usually do not pay much attention to the blogrolls. A blog button catches my eye a lot of times, though.

    • Awww so it’s the button you like. I see those alot and tried it on mine with the scrolling buttons but people said it slowed my blog down :)

  4. I look at blogrolls especially if I thought I’d find things that interest me. I put a blogroll on my sidebar of only those blogs I love to visit and leave comments on.

  5. When I was first blogging I did — I figured bloggers I liked to read would probably read and link to similar bloggers. Nowadays I have more than I can do to keep up with the regular bloggers I read without exploring blogrolls. But I like the format you have with the latest posts from your blogrolls — sometimes a post title there will catch my eye, and I’ll click over. And sometimes when I am bored or killing time, I’ll still click on a few in people’s blogrolls.

  6. Hey- I just checked out your blogroll and I wasn’t on it! There must be an app or plug-in for that.

  7. I have a ‘Visitors’ widget in my sidebar for those who recently left comments. I think that’s the closest to a blogroll that I will ever put in my sidebar. Like you, I don’t check other’s blogroll, and since I do not have a blogroll myself – I don’t bother putting it up.

  8. There are only a couple blogs that I click on sites on their sidebar. My blogroll is more for my convenience so I can click over quickly. Most of the time I just use my google reader where I have my favorites and I get notified when something new is posted…Because of google reader I haven’t posted any new blogs on my sidebar in a very long time…

  9. I should update my blogroll more often; I keep forgetting to add new people I’m reading or like.

A few times a week I’ll click on a blogroll link, especially if there’s a title or photo that looks interesting. And I like to check a blogroll in a new site I’m visiting, because seeing what the blogger is reading tells me a lot about that person, who their friends are, what interests they have, etc.

But it’s your blog! Put what you want in those sidebars!

    • Well I’m glad I have your permission to put what I like on my sidebar. That just makes my day. LOL You should keep up with yours if you have it on there Bad Susan Bad ROFLMAO Report to Brig 1020 1000 push-ups!!! (and no that ain’t the bra either) LOL

      • Yeah I’m a disgrace.
        LOL

But you’ve got us all in two lists on that sidebar — the Talkers and the Blogroll is pretty much duplicating things. PLEASE don’t get rid of the talkers — once in a while I actually hit the top and my God I need to excel at *something* in this life ROFL

        • Now how in the hell are they the same? One keeps comment count the other shows what you so have brilliantly posted. So this is what you are responding. You want to go to the head of the class. Where’s my apple?

  10. rarely I don’t have 1

  11. well, i sometimes take a quick glance at the blogroll but only click exceptionally. as you know, i don’t have one and have no intention of putting it there. google reader is enough

  12. I rarely visit blogs via blogrolls anymore. Before I used to, but just not as much as before. I find blogs to read other ways (via linkys, memes, etc.)

  13. I do use my blog roll often, it is a good way to get click throughs, I think.

  14. I don’t look at your blog roll but I do pay attention to your comment counter once or twice a week.

  15. I’m not sure I would say it is important to have a blogroll. I do occasionally look at other people’s. When I have extra time I might go through the blogrolls of people I read but certainly not most of the time.

  16. I don’t tend to go to Blog Rolls…but I would if I had more hours in a day!!

  17. yes,I do.I am looking for runing blogs so yes!!!Aloha

  18. Sometimes I do! I’ve always felt my blogroll is for me to remember where I WANT to go, lol.
