Jientje at Heaven is in Belgium, hosts A Thousand Words In Idioms. Mahalo, my Belgian Bombshell. You do a fantastic job. Direct from her blog “The idea is to pick an idiom, or a saying, (even slang is allowed) and illustrate it with a picture. Each week we’ll cover two letters of the alphabet.” Click here for more information. You can also click on the button above to go to her site. Don’t forget to sign Mister Linky when you are there so we can all see your Idioms! It’s great fun and I look forward to reading other participants.

Q

Quiet before the Storm

Clouds

When you know that something is about to go horribly wrong, but hasn’t just yet, then you are in the quiet before the storm

R

Ride with the tide

Tide

If you ride with the tide, you accept the majority decision

Hey, it’s only my opinion.

  1. Those shots and words are perfect :)
    I like the storm pic.
    Looks like Doomsday :)

  2. Ah, I see the “Peeps” widget is updated :)

  3. LOL at the second one, what a lovely find!! You have such a vivid imagination!! You did an awesome job again, I love them both!

I thought riding with the tide had something to do with the waves in the ocean? I would have thought it meant that you let yourself go wherever the waves take you, you know, like wherever the wind blows you? But it’s not quite that meaning is it?
See? I’ve learned something new again today!

  4. nice findings !and thank you for your birthday wishes ! I have the idioms here http://gattina-keyholepictures.blogspot.com/

  9. Those are great! I’ve seen four different Q ones now — I’m so surprised — I thought since it didn’t have many we’d all be illustrating one or two. What fun to see what everyone comes up with.

  10. I love the Tide one! You did good, my friend. :)

  11. Great idioms. Those waves in the back look mean.

  12. Never heard the Ride with the Tide on Before, Quiet before the storm I heard before as Calm before the storm.

You are so CLEVER, my friend!!!

The first shot reminded me of the wonderful storms we would get at the beach when I lived in Florida. OMG..the winds were incredible!!

    • Thank you and I am glad some one thinks I’m clever. Lol. Glad you enjoyed this. I’ll have to remember this on a rainy day. :)

  19. Only someone who LIVES on the beach would think of Ride with the tide! GOOD JOB!!! I had a ball at the ocean today! Got burnt to a crisp – but had fun doin’ it!

  21. Hello Thom, love your storm photo and had to giggle at your ride the tide photo, that is until it reminded me I had not done the laundry yet (sigh). It might be the quiet before the storm here if hubby has no clean shirt for work tomorrow :-) . Kathy.

    • ROFLMAO…this is just too funny. Thanks for stopping by and the wonderful comment. I hope ya get busy soon YIKES…who wants to do laundry..hire a maid I always say…but then who has the money for that. LOL Do you take puka shells for laundry services? LOL

  24. Isn’t riding or rolling with the tide also like going along with the inevitable?
